INTRODUCTION

KERALA IS A STATE SITUATED IN THE SOUTHWEST PART OF INDIA. KERALA WAS NAMED AFTER THE VAST COCONUT PLANTATION IN THE STATE. KERA MEANS COCONUT AND  ALAM MEANS LAND THEREFORE KERALA CAN BE NAMED AS LAND OF COCONUT. KERALA IS POPULARLY KNOWN AS GODS OWN COUNTRY. KERALA WAS FORMED AFTER INDEPENDENCE, ON 1 ST NOVEMBER 1956, BY THE MERGING OF MALAYALAM SPEAKING DISTRICTS. THE CAPITAL CITY IS THIRUVANANTHAPURAM(TRIVANDRUM). AND IT IS BORDERED BY THE STATE OF KARNATAKA TO THE NORTH, TAMIL NADU ON EAST AND ARABIAN SEA ON SOUTH AND WEST. IT IS ALSO SURROUNDED BY MAHE (PONDICHERRY)
